Month of Me: Birthday Bucket List

Last year I celebrated my birthday a month of me. The #monthofme was a celebration of another year of life as I entered year 33.

My year is not usually synced with the start of a new year in January like most but instead with a new year of life for me which is my birthday. My desire is to change my birthday from being a time when I reflect on all that I haven’t accomplished to a time when I am excited about the accomplishments of the year past and focused on continuing the growth in to the year ahead.

I created a birthday bucket list of things I wanted to do and enjoy during my birthday month. Even though I did not accomplish all of my checklist items, I had a great month with friends and learned a lot. (Read the recap here)

Well it’s officially May again and I have decided to make the #monthofme an annual celebration. Just like last year I have created a birthday bucket list which includes things I want to see, do and experience this month. This list is intended to bring me closer to accomplishing many of my personal and professional goals. A day of pampering is a perfect way to celebrate a birthday. I envisioned a few of these activities as being a part of my spa day. I especially love a great massage.

This is a great list. For my 30th birthday I did a 30 before 30 list.

How about trying a new lipstick daily.
    Eating clean.

A new lipstick daily – I like that but that would require a major trip to the beauty counter. What’s your favorite lipstick at the moment, maybe I can try that one?

I love this idea! My birthday is in January so yeah, I’m staying inside!

You can create a list of fun things to do inside in cold weather in January like host a fun game night, binge of your favorite movies or tv series one day, or learn a new recipe.

Great idea to do a birthday bucket list. How about learn a new language?

Yes becoming fluent in Spanish is definitely on my list. I need more than a month to learn but I will commit time to practicing daily and having a conversation with a native speaker at least once a week. Thanks.

I would suggest adding a little adventure into the mix. Try a new activity that is outside your book. Something like hiking, 5k Fun Runs, scuba diving, etc.

Yes I love adventure, I’ll see what I can fit in this month.

I absolutely love this list! May try this for when my birthday rolls around. A pampering session is an absolute must!

Yes Valerie, I don’t think I pamper myself enough.

Wow you have a bucketlist for a month! Thats an interesting concept I dont think I could do it because I know I would overwhelm myself but you have some good ideas!

  11. May 10, 2016 / 3:34 AM

Love your list! Trying a few food trucks, photo walking, road tripping, as well as sewing some things for my baby girl are on my list. I have no idea how to use my sewing machine but I’m going to teach myself over the summer.

I learned to sew in elementary school but I havent pulled out my machine since college so I would love to refresh my skills.

I’m anxious to see what you make for your baby girl, please share photos.

Thank you. The list definitely helps me focus on what I desire versus what I lack. It gives me many chances to live in the moment and enjoy myself with my loved ones.
