I am a Tampa native who loves food. The culinary scene in Tampa has been burgeoning for several years and is developing quite nicely. One of the culinary icons is Bern’s Steakhouse which is located in South Tampa. I have known about Bern’s for years as it is the premier steakhouse in the area. Since my pockets aren’t that deep my visits to Bern’s are limited. But when I have a chance to splurge I definitely enjoy a trip to this Tampa icon.
Bern’s has a little sister, Elevage which is located in the Epicurean Hotel located in South Tampa. I have been fortunate to visit the restaurant on several occasions. Recently I was informed about the daily happy hour while at an event with the Tampa Bay Bloggers. Whereas the price point at Elevage isn’t as high as Bern’s, I definitely cannot afford to eat there every day. But what I can afford is happy hour!
And I have been to happy hour at Elevage two times in the last two weeks. I was actually very tempted to go again this week. The first time I visited the restaurant for happy hour, I dined solo but the second time I was fortunate to have my foodie soul mate and fellow blogger Jenn join me.
The awesome thing about the happy hour at Elevage is that the menu changes every day. Based on my two visits there seem to be a few mainstays: risotto of the day, charcuterie tray and cheese board. Even these mainstays are varied each day. I am usually a creature of habit but the varied options give me a chance to try something new every time I visit, which I think is pretty neat especially since I am becoming a weekly regular.
I’m sure you’re ready for me to stop talking and get to the food. So here goes, ENJOY but the images on the screen seem closer than they really are so don’t eat your screen because I promise that won’t taste as good.
As you can see Elevage is not skimping on their happy hour specials. They are providing the same high quality you would expect to receive from this iconic culinary family of restaurants, but at a fraction of the price. Elevage is a perfect example of why I am such a fan of happy hour. As a frugal girl, happy hour gives me an opportunity to have a fine dining experience without wrecking my budget.
This experience can be had alone but it is much better with a friend who will support your need to order and sample all of the featured happy hour options for the day. As one of the newest regulars of this establishment, there is a possibility that you will see me when you stop by for a visit. If you do, please do not hesitate to say hello.
In addition to happy hour at Elevage, I am also planning to return for Sunday Brunch. Have you visited any of the Bern’s Family Restaurants which include Bern’s, Elevage and Haven? If so please share your favorites in the comments below.
