Donate Toys, Get Rewards

toys for tots - glimmer lights

With Thanksgiving behind us, the holidays are officially here. Much of the hightlight in the media is on shopping and which deals are best in stores and online. If you are enjoying the savings of the holiday sales, I implore you to pick up one or two extra toys for needy children in your area.

A variety of businesses in the Tampa Bay area will be collecting donations for several non-profit organizations. As an incentive (as if we need one) those who participated will be rewarded for their generosity with discounts and freebies.

I have listed the businesses of which I am aware below:

Ice Cold Air Discount Auto Repair is giving away free oil changes and tire rotations to any customer who brings in a new, unwrapped toy for the Marines’ annuals “Toys for Tots” program until Dec. 12.

Customers who donate a toy may also choose a $20 credit in repair service for their donation.

Oil changes may be performed on the spot or a voucher for future use may be obtained.

Donations will be accepted at most of the 17 Ice Cold Air locations in Florida.

Toys must be in the original packaging and unwrapped.

Visit for a list of locations and more information.

Through Wednesday, Dec. 16, bring in a new, unwrapped toy valued at at least $10 to any Tampa area Qdoba location and the Mexican restaurant will give you a coupon for a free entree.

The donated toys will be given to the Toys for Tots annual drive.

To find a Qdoba near you, visit

For a limited time, Grimaldi’s will treat you to a $5 gift card when you donate a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.

The gift card can be used on a future visit.

Toys for both boys and girls of all ages are requested, however plush items are not accepted.

Visit to find a participating location.

I plan to donate at all of the aforementioned establishments and I hope you will join me in doing the same.
