As a member of Tampa Bay Bloggers, I was invited to brunch at Vuelo Mexican Grill in Wesley Chapel. I became aware of the restaurant shortly after it opened after a friend and fellow blogger, Tracy Guida visited with her children. All of her pictures made me swoon so naturally I was excited to have a chance to taste the food for myself.
Vuelo Mexican Grill is located in Wesley Chapel just north of Tampa. Vuelo specializes in hand-crafted Mexican food for modern times. The cuisine is described as a fusion between Mexican classics and Latin/South American flavors.
After traveling a bit during the holidays and being a it disconnected from my friends. I knew that I wanted to use this Sunday Brunch at Vuelo Mexican Grill as an opportunity to spend some quality time with my girls.
We started brunch with drinks of course. I mean who does brunch without mimosas?! During brunch Vuelos, you can enjoy unlimited mimosas for just $10. Although the other ladies were watching their alcohol intake, I indulged.
One of the ladies opted for a Poinsettia instead of a mimosa. I had never heard of this but it is an alternative to the traditional mimosa. The Poinsettia is a combination of champagne and cranberry juice. Bloody Mary’s are also bottomeless during brunch for $10 as well.
During brunch you can order breakfast specialties from the brunch menu or savory entrees from the lunch menu. We enjoyed a combination of both.
Chips are served complimentary to everyone. The chips were a perfect vehicle to sample the homemade sauces available at the salsa bar. Ya’ll know I am punk when it comes to spice so I kept it mild but the other ladies enjoyed some of the more fiery options.
We started the meal with the Cast Iron Cauliflower. I must admit I was overridden with this choice of appetizer. The ladies really wanted to try this dish after seeing pictures of it on Yelp and hearing our server say it was really good. I on the other hand wanted the Queso Fundido instead. I yielded since they won the vote 3 to 1 but I must admit, they made a good choice. The cauliflower was served on a sizzling skillet with a drizzle of an avocado cream. This was definitely a fan favorite at our table.
We shared a variety of food items which you will see pictured below.
Steak and Shrimp Fajitas
Sweet Potato Fries (Nacho Style)
And of course you know I did not end the meal without dessert. One of my friends has a gluten sensitivity so we chose two desserts and shared them both.
Our favorites were the Shrimp Tostada, Fajitas, Sweet Potato Fries and the Chocolate Cake.
Brunch is always a great way to spend time with my favorite people without breaking the bank. This ladies brunch was a great way to start the new year. I am so grateful to my girlfriends for joining me and Vuelo Mexican Grill for inviting us.
I look forward to a return visit for the Taco Tuesday specials. You cannot beat $6 for 2 tacos and a margarita. I also want to try Fried Florida Bites & one of the Bubbling Molcajetes. Let me know if you want to come #EatWithTia and we can all go together.
