I had the pleasure of attending the Grand Re-Opening at The Melting Pot in Tampa as a VIP guest. I have been to The Melting Pot before but it had been a while so I was excited for an opportunity to return.
The restaurant recently underwent a major renovation and we were among the first to see the unveiling. The aesthetic is more open, bright and modern. The changes in decor were nice to see but you know I was really interested in seeing if there were any changes to the menu.
As guest’s of the restaurant, we were treated to a 4-course fondue experience. If you are unfamiliar with The Melting Pot, let me take a minute to explain the concept. (If you are, skip to the next paragraph to read all about my thoughts on the food we sampled.) The Melting Pot is the original fondue restaurant which specializes in an interactive dining experience. At The Melting Pot, you customize your own meal and cook it at the table.
We started our meal with drinks, I sampled the Moscato Mule, Strawberry Basil Lemonade (pictured below), and the Lemon Berry Mojito. My favorite was the Lemon Berry Mojito, I seriously wanted to order a second and a third. I would recommend you start with this one for sure.
Course 1: The Cheese Fondue
We were able to try two of the cheese fondues which was great for us because we were having a hard time deciding which one to order. We selected the Quatro Formaggio and the Spinach and Artichoke. The Quatro Formaggio Butterkase, Fontina, Fresh Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses with white wine, roasted garlic, basil and sun dried tomato pestos. The Spinach and Artichoke has melted cheeses with fresh spinach, artichoke hearts, and garlic. The cheese course is served with a variety of bread, fruit, and vegetables.
Let me tell you, these were every bit of heaven for me. They both were so delicious; I could not pick a favorite if you made me. I always hope to go with a party large enough to require two selections because I would order the exact same ones again.
I absolutely love cheese but hot melted cheese with dippers was right up my alley. Like seriously I could have stopped here. Nah, who am I fooling; you know I am a greedy girl.
Course 2: Salad
Next, we had a salad. I chose the Caprese since the other ladies chose the California. After the cheese course, I probably should have chosen the green salad like the ladies but it was good.
Course 3: Entrees
The Grand Feast included the Filet Mignon, Sriracha Lime Shrimp, Honey Orange Chicken Breast, Memphis Style BBQ Pork and Wild Mushroom Sacchetti. The meats are delivered raw to the table and are cooked in the broth of your choice. We chose Coq Au Vin and Mojo.
Our server detailed the recommended cooking times to us when she delivered this course to us. We used our phones to keep track of our cooking times. Each of us had different color sticks so we could also keep track of our entrees.
I am such a carnivore so this course was a perfect sampling of the menu offerings. Along with the flavored cooking broths, we were also given a sampling of sauces for dipping. We created some awesome combinations which I wish I had written down but if I am being honest we were enjoying each other and our food so much I did not even think about it. Next time will be sure to write them down and share them with you.
Course 4: Dessert
Chocolate Fondue is the dessert specialty at the Melting Pot. Select your favorite combination and enjoy dipping all of the sweet treats into the chocolate. This is not like the fountains you see at weddings and special events. This is good quality chocolate warmed right at your table. We chose the Flaming Turtle and Cookies and Creme.
I was rooting hard for the Flaming Turtle because that’s a combination I always love but I must admit the Cookies and Creme was my favorite of the two. I was wishing that one was positioned closest to me so I could have eaten it all by myself. I wasn’t a complete glutton though and practiced sharing so the other ladies could enjoy it as well.
To conclude the night we also enjoyed the Ying Yang Martini as a night cap. Although a sweet fiend like me would have this at any point in the meal, it paired well with the chocolate fondue.
The 4-Course tasting at The Melting Pot Tampa was an amazing experience. I am so glad I was able to enjoy it with Lauren, The Outdoorsy Diva, Annie of Discovering Your Happy and Brittney of Style Me Britt. This proved to be an amazing Girls Night Out and we had a blast. I definitely plan on returning to The Melting Pot again soon.
Since I am single and won’t likely be going with a man, I am looking forward to enjoying another Ladies Night with friends. The Melting Pot in Tampa offers a $25 3-course fondue dinner just for the ladies on Wednesday and Thursday Nights. The promotion also includes $5 wines and $6 cocktails.
